Alexandria Earl Givan, ’94, is a pioneer in women’s track and field, competing at the national level in the hammer throw. She became the first gold medalist in the women’s hammer throw event at the Pan-American Games. A member of the USA National Track and Field Team, she was a potential Olympian in the newly recognized event. Givan had top 10 finishes in the USA Indoor and Outdoor National Championships in 2002 and the Indoor National Championship in 2003. She volunteered with Zeta Phi Beta sorority teaching hammer throwing skills to young girls and high school athletes.
