Andrew J. Talley, ’67, after playing four years for the Owls, went on to a highly successful career as head football coach at Villanova University. He earned honors in 1997 as the Eddie Robinson Division 1-AA National Coach of the Year and was also named Coach of the Year by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), the Atlantic 10 Conference, and the Metropolitan New York Sportswriters. His 1997 Wildcat team was the first unbeaten and untied team in Villanova history, setting 41 school records and earning the ECAC Team of the Year Award. His teams won three conference titles and appeared in the NCAA Division 1-AA playoffs five times between 1989 and 1997. Talley also coached at Simsbury High, Springfield College, Middlebury College, Brown University and St. Lawrence University.
