Anthony DeFrancesco, ’50, was the first Southern graduate to coach at the college level. A three-sport star and member of the Owls’ first football team, DeFrancesco went on to play professional baseball for the Eastern League in Scranton before returning to Southern as assistant football and baseball coach.
