Assaf Dagai was a four-year member of the Southern Connecticut men’s soccer team from 1996 through 1999. Dagai graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s in business administration with a major in finance and a minor in computer science.
 
As a team captain, Dagai guided the Owls to the 1998 and 1999 NCAA Division II National Championships and was a two-time NSCAA/United Soccer Coaches Association First Team All-American both seasons.
 
In 1999, Dagai was named the NCAA Division II Player of the Year, the NCAA National All-Division Scholar Athlete of the Year as well as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Year while also becoming the first SCSU men’s soccer student-athlete honored by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) as an Academic All-American.
 
In 1998, he became just the second SCSU men’s soccer student-athlete to record 20 assists in a season while his 55 career assists stand as the program record. In addition to his all-time leading 55 assists, Dagai also ranks second all-time in points (137) and tied for seventh with 41 goals scored. He is the only student-athlete in
program history to record 40 goals and 40 assists for their career.
 
After graduating from Southern Connecticut, Dagai returned to his home in Israel where he worked in the technology industry for 18 years. A father of three, he is currently a teacher at Givat Haviva International School with the goal of mentoring the next generation of leaders in a globally shared society.
