Beba Stratakis holds the distinction of being the first All-American in SCSU women’s soccer history after earning the honor in 2000. Additionally, Stratakis is the first, and as of 2024, the only women’s soccer Olympian in program history. Stratakis was a member of the Greek national team that competed in the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

Stratakis joined the Owls in 1998 after transferring from Farmingdale Community College, where she was a NSCAA All-American and All-Region selection in two seasons. In 1998, Stratakis started all 19 games for the Owls on defense. She quickly established herself as one of the top players in the conference as she was named to the New England Collegiate Conference Second Team.

After sitting out the 1999 season due to injury, Stratakis returned in 2000 to lead the team to a 19-2 mark, which stands as the program record in 2024. That season, the Owls made their first NCAA Tournament appearance and finished the season ranked seventh in the country. Stratakis was named to the NSCAA All-American Second Team, joining her teammate Theresa Uliano as the first women’s soccer All-Americans in program history. She also earned Northeast-10 Conference First Team honors. Stratakis later had her No. 6 jersey retired by SCSU Women’s Soccer.
