Joan Bonvicini, ’75, helped lead the Owls’ women’s basketball team to third place finishes in the AIAW Division I national championships in 1973 and 1974. She received honorable mention for the All-America team. Bonvicini was a finalist for the 1976 Olympic women’s basketball team, and went on to a highly successful career as a coach for California State University Long Beach and the University of Arizona. She was named the NCAA Divison I National Coach of the Year in 1981.
