Louis J. Pitney, ’58, was a starting center on Southern’s first undefeated and untied football team in 1956. He was selected as Southern’s first All-America football player in 1956 by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, and he was the Owls’ co-captain in 1957. After graduation, Pitney went on to serve in the Marine Corps and then as sales manager for several major international companies. In 1982, he formed his own company, Machine Parts International, with affiliated companies in Japan and Mexico.
