Southern Connecticut State University Athletics

Mario McCutcheon, ’81, received the Nissen Award for an outstanding collegiate gymnast in 1980. He still holds several Southern event records, including a score of 58.30 points in the all-around, and he captured the USA Gymnastics Elite National Championship on horizontal bar in 1983. He represented Southern and USA Gymnastics in 19 international competitions, including the 1981 and 1983 World Championships and the 1983 Pan American Games.
