Raymond DeFrancesco, ’53, served Southern in six decades as a player, coach and director of athletics. He was co-captain of the 1952 football team, and he was a standout baseball player. He went on to serve as the Owls’ first freshman football coach and as a longtime assistant coach in the football and baseball programs. He then served as director of athletics from 1974 to 1992.
