Richard J. Corso, ’76, was one of the most respected and successful water polo coaches in the world. As head coach of the USA Olympic water polo team, he was responsible for selecting, training and coaching elite athletes for the Olympic Games, World Championships, World Cup, Pan American Games and the U.S. Open. He was head coach and technical director for the Harvard Water Polo Foundation in Los Angeles, the premier water polo club in the Americas, and head coach for water polo and swimming at Harvard-Westlake School in North Hollywood, Calif. He served as head coach of the Canadian national team and the USA national junior team and held coaching positions at the University of California at Los Angeles, Stanford University and Yale University. He was named the U.S. Olympic Committee National Team Coach of the Year in 1996 and California Coach of the Year in 1992.
