Southern Connecticut State University Athletics

William Borden, ’83, excelled at Southern in the 35-pound weight and hammer throws. He placed first in the 1981 and 1982 New England Indoor Track and Field Championship and in the 1982 ICAAAA Indoor Track Championships. In the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championship, he placed second in 1980 and first in 1981 and 1982. He competed in four U.S. Olympic Festivals in 1986, 1987, 1990 and 1991, medaling in three of them. And he won the American Weightlifting Championships in 1989.
