RINDGE, N.H. – Trailing 17-12 with just over 10 minutes to go in regulation, the Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team rattled off five consecutive goals to even the game at 17-17. However, host Franklin Pierce netted the final two goals of the contest to claim a 19-17 win over the Owls this evening.

Nicole Healey (Milford, Conn.) tallied a game-high seven goals in the contest and added a game-high 10 draw controls. Her 10 draw controls were a career-high and the second-highest single-game total in program history, trailing only Grace Martha's 14 against Assumption in 2007.

Carolynn Keal (Southington, Conn.) finished with six points (three goals, three assists) and also had three groundballs and three caused turnovers.

Samantha Cozzolino (Hamden, Conn.) totaled four points (two goals, two assists) and also had four draw controls.

Hailey Prindle-Nelson (Sharon, Conn.) and
Megan Lawlor (Westford, Mass.) each scored two goals, with the former also adding an assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Franklin Pierce scored the first three goals of the game and never trailed at any point in the contest. Trailing 6-3, the Owls received goals from Healey, Prindle-Nelson and
Taylor Portelinha (Woodbridge, Conn.) to knot the score at 6-6.
- The Ravens scored the final three goals of the first half to take a 9-6 lead into the break, and then netted the first two goals of the second half to build an 11-6 cushion.
- From there, the Owls tried to chip into the FPU lead, but the Ravens actually built their largest lead of the game – six goals at 16-10 – with 13:20 to go.
- Lawlor and Healey scored the next two goals, before a Ravens tally pushed it back to five goals with 10:24 left. Southern then rattled off five goals – two from Healey and one each from Lawlor, Prindle-Nelson and Keal – in a stretch of 3:52 to even it up at 17-17 with 4:29 remaining.
- Briana Sweeney and Zoe Totlandt each scored in the closing minutes as the Ravens hung on for the win.
