Southern Connecticut men's cross country won its fourth-straight Northeast-10 Conference Championship while Jonathon Volpe won his second individual championship in three seasons.
The Owls placed five runners in the top 10 with Volpe, Colton Sallum (2nd), John Glidden (5th) and Sean Barkasy (6) all receiving NE10 First Team honors with top-8 finishes. Joseph Lamburn was the fifth as he finished in ninth place to take NE10 Second Team honors.
Volpe crossed at 25:46.8 to win his second individual title following his 2022 victory. It was also Volpe's third NE10 First Team honor and fourth all-conference nod after earning a Second Team bid as a freshman in 2021. Volpe's win also made Southern a repeat winner after Owen Gagne won last year's race.
Freshman Colton Sallum was second overall with a time of 26:06.7 after winning NE10 Rookie of the Week three times during the regular season. Glidden, the 2024 NE10 Rookie of the Year finished fifth at 26:50.6 followed by 2022 Rookie of the Year Barkasy at 26:53.3. Lamburn was ninth at 27:04.9.
Southern also placed three more runners in the top 20 with Frankie Porrini finishing at 27:18.3 for 14th place and Nate Huebner clocking in at 27:22.6 for 15th. Both runners earned NE10 Second Team honors while Ryan Gagne was 19th at 27:37.3 and earned Third Team recognition.
With the win, the Owls will advance to the 2025 NCAA Division II East Regional on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Coontoocock, N.H.
