NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior
Alyssa Gage (Beverly Hills, Fla.) posted a combined total of 20 kills and 12 blocks, along with a .655 hitting percentage, as the Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team swept a pair of non-conference games from Dominican and Nyack today by identical 3-0 scores.

LOOKING AT THE NUMBERS
- Gage totaled eight kills without an error and six blocks in the opener against Dominican. She followed with 12 kills, six blocks and five digs in the nightcap against Nyack.

Leanna Jadus (Long Beach, Calif.) posted a game-high 15 kills and added seven digs against Nyack. She had nine kills and 11 digs in the opener against Dominican.

Gabriela Vazquez (Meriden, Conn.) notched a game-high 13 kills against Dominican.

Kailyn O'Neal (Katy, Texas) registered a game-high 22 assists against Dominican and a game-high 23 assists against Nyack.

Anna Venard (Thornton, Colo.) and Jadus each had a game-high 11 digs against Dominican.
HOW IT HAPPENED…vs. Dominican:
- SCSU jumped out to an early 7-4 lead in game one and stretched the lead to 14-7. It later grew to as large as 10 points before finishing with a nine-point cushion.
- Game two was close in the early stages. Dominican used a spurt to take a 13-10 lead and force an Owls' timeout. Southern followed by scoring 12 of the next 14 points for a 22-15 lead en route to a another 25-16 triumph.
- The third game was tied at 7-7, but the Owls scored four straight to snap the tie and were never ahead by fewer than four points the rest of the way.
HOW IT HAPPENED…vs. Nyack:
- The Owls came out and scored 12 of the first 16 points of game one to set the tone. SCSU led by as many as 12 and finished with a 10-point win.
- Trailing 10-8 in game two, Nyack scored seven in a row to build its biggest lead of the set at 15-10. SCSU answered with eight straight points and held the lead for the remainder of the game.
- The Owls stormed out to an 11-1 lead in game three and cruised to a 13-point win.
