General Tailgating Regulations

• Parking lots will open three (3) hours prior to the scheduled start of the game for Saturday games.
• Tailgating will not be available for weekday games due to parking needs of students during evening academic courses & activities.   
• Parking is limited, thus one car, one space will be enforced.
• Attendees wishing to park together should enter the parking lot at the same time - saving spaces for other vehicles is prohibited.
• The tailgating area will close one (1) hour after conclusion of the game.
• Tailgating is permitted at Home Football Games.

*During Homecoming, portable rest rooms are available in Lot 9.  Additional facilities are located at Jess Dow Field. Residence Hall bathrooms are not available for public use.
 
The university reserves the right to close down any tailgating area and to dismiss any person from the premises for violations of this policy or when it determines is required for public safety purposes.
 
Legal Restrictions

• Attendees are expected to obey all laws and may face arrest and prosecution if the law is violated.
• The legal age for possession and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages in Connecticut is 21.
• It is illegal to provide alcohol to anyone under the age of 21.
• The use, possession, or sale of marijuana is banned on college campuses per the federal DrugFree Schools and Communities Act.

Policy Restrictions
Violators of the policy restrictions outlined below will be asked to cease the behavior or leave the event.  Those that persist may be subject to arrest and/or campus discipline.

• Per university policy smoking of any kind (cigarettes, cigars, vaping, and marijuana) is prohibited on university property.
• Anyone in possession of or consuming alcoholic beverages must produce a valid ID to Police or University Staff when requested. • Consumption of alcoholic beverages on any other part of the campus (not designated for Homecoming activities) or on public streets that run through or adjacent to campus is prohibited.
• Kegs and glass bottles or containers are prohibited.
• The sale of alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited.
• Drinking games (including but not limited to beer pong), and the use of devices intended to accelerate the consumption of alcohol (including but not limited to funnels or beer bongs) are prohibited.
• Loud, abusive language and behavior that prevent others from enjoying tailgating is prohibited.
• No solicitation of any kind is allowed. This includes banners, raffles, or the selling of any products (food, drink, apparel, souvenirs) without written permission from SCSU.
• Food and beverage may not be brought into Jess Dow Field.
• Charcoal grills are strictly prohibited. Use of propane grills are permitted with safety as the highest priority with a maximum propane cylinder size of 20 lbs. No open flames.
• Amplified music (DJ, PA systems, oversized speakers, etc.) is prohibited in the tailgate area. Only university contracted DJ services will be permitted.
• Any tailgating activities (i.e. ball playing, Frisbee toss, corn hole, etc.) taking place in the parking lots and roadways are safety hazards. Fans wishing to participate in these activities are expected to both take extreme caution and be respectful of other tailgaters in the process.
• Unauthorized use of ADA accessible parking spaces will not be tolerated. All parking lots are ADA accessible and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A person with an ADA state placard or license plate must be in the vehicle.
• Drones are strictly prohibited in and around the stadium
• Tents, tables and chairs may not obstruct building exits, pedestrian walkways, accessibility ramps, fire lanes, roadways or extend into adjacent parking spaces. Tent size is limited to 12′ x 10′ (120 sq ft.). Tents and other equipment must be secured without ground stakes to prevent injury or damage to underground utilities. Tables cannot exceed 6 feet.
• Use of University electrical outlets is prohibited.

Police and staff are assigned to these areas and will enforce all policies and laws.
