SCSU Athletics Announces 2020 Hall of Fame Class

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University Director of Athletics Jay Moran has announced the SCSU Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2020, which will be comprised of one team and eight individuals.

"I'm very excited to announce the 2020 Southern Connecticut Athletics Hall of Fame Class," Moran said. "The selection committee presented us with a great selection of honorees and I'm thrilled to honor another national championship winning team and a group of outstanding student-athletes who had a great impact on Southern Connecticut State University."

The 1992 NCAA Division II National Champion men's soccer program will be recognized with Tara Antalosky, Jacques Cesaire, Joe Ciaburri, Marjorie Dolan, Kelley Kimball Frassinelli, Jerritt Lewis, Mike Lewis and Beba Stratakis also set to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The 1992 men's soccer team won the program's third national championship after  finishing the year with a 21-2-1 record that featured a 15-game winning streak to cap a historic year that ended with a 1-0 win against Tampa for the title. The team was led by a pair of All-Americans in Kevin Anderson and SCSU Hall of Famer Bo Oshoniyi and NECC Rookie of the Year Sherwin Mullin. The team also featured Gil Hokayma and Chris Payne, who completed their careers as two of Southern's all-time scoring leaders.

Women's swimming's Tara Antalosky was an eight-time All-American from 2003 through 2006 and graduated as the program's record holder in the 100 and 200 Yard Butterfly. The 2003-04 Northeast 10 Conference Swimmer of the Year, Antalosky led the Owls to their first NE10 Championship that season, which she would repeat four times before the end of her career.

Football's Jacques Cesaire was the 2002 NE10 Defensive Player of the Year and AFCA All-American to highlight a career in which he finished ranked among Southern's all-time leaders in single-season and career sacks, finishing with the second-most in program history. He went on to a nine-year career with the San Diego Chargers, starting in 66 of 109 games played in the National Football League. He is currently the defensive line coach for the University of San Diego.

Kelley Kimball Frassinelli was a stand-out on the Southern Connecticut field hockey team and was the program's first All-American in 1991. She was also a stand-out on the women's track & field team, with her most notable accomplishment coming at the prestigious Penn Relays as a senior. She returned to her alma mater as the field hockey head coach, a position she has held for 25 years, and was also the first head coach in the history of the women's lacrosse program.

Jerritt Lewis ranks as one of the all-time great men's basketball players to suit for the Owls. Lewis completed his playing career with the second-most points all-time and also broke the program record for steals. He was a two-time All-New England Collegiate Conference selection and a 1997-98 All-American.

Mike Lewis broke the men's track & field program records in the 800 and 1000 Meters as well as the 4x400 and 4x800 Relay and was a five-time All-American from 1987 to 1989.

Beba Stratakis was one of the first two women's soccer student-athletes, joining Hall of Famer Theresa Uliano, to earn All-American honors in 2000. A 2000 Northeast 10 First Team selection, Stratakis competed for Greece at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

Marjorie Dolan will receive the Carolyn Vanacore Award which recognizes individuals who have supported Southern Connecticut Athletics. Joe Ciaburri will also be recognized for his support and contributions to SCSU Athletics, particularly men's basketball and football.
