Volleyball Clinches NE10 Tournament Spot With 3-2 Win At SNHU

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team defeated Southern New Hampshire University, 3-2, at the Stan Spirou Field House in Manchester, N.H. With the win, the Owls finish the regular-season at 7-6 in the Northeast 10 Conference and clinch the No. 8 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. 

Owls' junior Abigail Epstein (Crystal River, Fla.) led the offensive charge for Southern Connecticut with a team-high 14 kills, five blocks, four digs and two service aces. Freshman Gabriela Gaibur (Monroe, N.Y.) continued her steady play with 15 digs, 10 kills, a block and an ace. Senior libero Anna Venard (Thornton, Colo.) nabbed a game-high 23 digs and two service aces while fellow senior Jillian Chambers (Shelby Township, Mich.) grabbed 11 digs, six kills and four blocks. Senior setter Tea Carter (Modesto, Calif.) had 45 assists, 13 digs and four blocks to help the Owls secure a bid in postseason play.

Notes
  • Tea Carter recorded 45 assists for the fourth-consecutive game and for the fifth time in her last six matches.
  • Carter collected her 10th double-double of the season and fourth-straight with 45 assists and 13 digs. 
  • Gaibur recorded her fifth-consecutive double-double and her sixth in her last seven games. 
  • Epstein registered five blocks and has tallied three-or-more blocks in 14 games this season. 
  • Venard collected double-digit digs for the 12th consecutive game.
