WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Southern Connecticut State University women's swimming & diving opened the 2021-22 season against West Chester and Shippensburg in a tri-meet in West Chester, Pa. The Owls lost to West Chester, 212.00-74.00, and Shippensburg, 143.00-133.00.
Freshman
Arianna Arturi (Mount Olive, N.J.) posted a pair of top-3 finishes for the day completing the 200 Yard Freestyle in 2:03.09 and the 100 Yard Freestyle in 56.55.
Anya Celmer (West Haven, Conn.) finished third in the 1,000 Yard Freestyle event while freshman
Natalie Weier (White Bear Lake, Minn.) also placed third in the 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:31.88.
In the 500 Yard Freestyle, the Owls grabbed two of the top-five spots in the 11-person race, as freshman
Brooke Keeney (Glastonbury, Conn.) grabbed a third-place finish at 5:39.53 with Weier close behind in fourth at 5:43.18.
In the 1 Meter and 3 Meter Diving events Cecelia Vess (Cromwell, Conn.)Â finished third out of five divers while Isabella Forte (Peabody, Mass. ) was close behind in fourth.Â
The Owls return to action when they compete in the Fairfield Invitational on Oct. 7-8, with Diving set for Friday, Oct. 7 and the swimming events on Oct. 8.Â
