NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Southern Connecticut men's swimming & diving lost to Iona, 197-93, in a duel meet in New Rochelle, N.Y.

Chandler Tucker (Bellmore, N.Y.) was the Owls' top-finisher in three events, finishing second in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, 100 Yard Freestyle and the 200 Yard Individual Medley. The Owls also won the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:34.22 with the team comprised of Franklin Kuhn (Tolland, Conn.), Timothy Kanaley (Sayville, N.Y.), Bobby Hahn (Niantic, Conn.) and Mike Aiello (Monroe, Conn.).

HOW IT HAPPENED
1650 Yard Freestyle

• Evan Bombery (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished the 1650 Freestyle event in 17:22.27 for fourth place and the Owls' highest finisher in the event.

200 Yard Freestyle

• Henry Velazquez (Fairfield, Conn.) posted a third-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:47.50.

100 Yard Backstroke

• Kobe Dominguez (West Hartford, Conn.) completed the 100 Yard Backstroke event in 57.08 for third place.

100 Yard Breaststroke

• Tucker was second in the 100 Yard Breaststroke event with a time of 59.38.

200 Yard Butterfly

• Kanaley was fourth in the 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:06.06.

50 Yard Freestyle

• It was Velazquez again finishing as Southern's top finisher in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 22.73.

100 Yard Freestyle

• Tucker posted his second, second-place finish of the evening with a time of 48.11 in the 100 Freestyle.

200 Yard Backstroke

• Kanaley finished fourth again, this time in the 200 Yard Backstroke for the Owls' top spot with a time of 2:04.76.

200 Yard Breaststroke

• Connor Skarzynski (West Hartford, Conn.) was third in the 200 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:25.54, followed by Derek Melanson (Plantsville, Conn.) at 2:31.27.

500 Yard Freestyle

• Velazquez turned in his third, third-place finish of the afternoon, this time in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 4:56.46.

100 Yard Butterfly

• Dominguez finished fourth in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 56.79.

200 Yard Individual Medley

• Tucker finished second in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:00.47.

NOTES

• Velazquez posted a personal season-best time in the 200 Freestyle event, which was also good for the Owls' second-best time of the year.
• Dominguez also posted his best of the season in the 100 Backstroke.
• Tucker's sub-one-minute 100 Yard Breaststroke was the Owls' top time in the event this season.
• As Iona did not compete in the two diving events, Andrew Buehler (Wallingford, Conn.) swept the 1 Meter and 3 Meter events for the third-straight meet. Buehler took the 1 Meter with a score of 243.52, followed by Matheus Silva (Stratford, Conn.) with 177.95 and JT Tressel (Meriden, Conn.) at 157.94.
• In the 3 Meter event, Buehler tallied a 239.60, followed by Silva at 202.27 and Tressel with 104.70.
