The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team opens the 2021 season at the University of Bridgeport Women's Soccer Classic. Southern Connecticut is set to face Mercy College on Friday, September 3 to kickstart the weekend. The squad will then take on host Bridgeport on Sunday, September 5.

The Last Time They Met: These two teams last faced each other on October 12, 2019 where Mercy capture the 2-0. The Owls are winless against the Mavericks since September 4, 2012.

The Last Time They Met: These two squads last met in this very same tournament in 2019. SCSU defeated the then-No. 2 nationally ranked and defending National Champion Purple Knights, 1-0.
Looking Back
When the Owls take the pitch on Friday, it will have been 656 days since their last match. Their 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19. SCSU last competed on November 17, 2019 when they fell to Saint Rose in the NE10 Championship game, 3-2.

Owls in the NE10
Southern Connecticut was picked eighth in the 2021 Northeast 10 Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. Saint Rose received the most points in the poll with 166 and had 10 first place votes. Adelphi, Bentley, Franklin Pierce and American International rounded out the first place votes, all collecting one each. Stonehill (138) and Southern New Hampshire (136) finished second and third, respectively, in the voting.
