SCSU Men's Swimming & Diving Tops Adelphi, Saint Rose

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut men's swimming & diving defeated Adelphi, 103-to-37, and Saint Rose, 101-to-38, in a tri-meet hosted by the Owls at the Hutchinson Natatorium.
  Mid-year transfer McAllistar Milne (Glastonbury, Conn.) starred in his first meet as an Owl after coming to Southern from UConn with wins in all three events he competed in. McAllistar posted wins in the 200 Yard Butterfly, 500 Yard Freestyle and 200 Yard Individual Medley. Franklin Kuhn (Tolland, Conn.) won a pair of events for the Owls, taking the 50 and 100 Yard Freestyle events. Kuhn was also part of the 400 Yard Medley Relay that won. Chandler Tucker (Bellmore, N.Y.) took the 100 Yard Backstroke and was part of both the 200 Yard Medley Relay and 400 Yard Medley Relay that posted wins, while Tyler Cusano (Hamden, Conn.) was also part of both relay teams and had a second-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle.

 
200 Yard Medley Relay
Southern opened the day with a battle in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, edging Saint Rose, 1:37.37-to-1:37.82. The Owls time, compiled by a team consisting of Chandler Tucker, Bobby Hahn (Niantic, Conn.), Henry Velazquez (Fairfield, Conn.) and Tyler Cusano, was its second-fastest of the year in the event. The time was the fastest of the year for Southern.

1,000 Yard Freestyle
Southern grabbed the top two spots in the 1,000 Yard Freestyle event as Jonathan Colascione (West Islip, N.Y.) finished first at 10:49.32 followed by Collin Doyle (Hartford, Conn.) in second at 10:53.92.  

200 Yard Freestyle
The Owls continue to roll in the 200 Yard Freestyle event as Henry Velazquez (Fairfield, Conn.) took first with a personal, season-best time of 1:47.02 while Tyler Cusano (Hamden, Conn.) finished second at 1:49.86.

100 Yard Backstroke
Timothy Kanaley (Sayville, N.Y.) won the 100 Yard Backstroke event, coming from behind to touch at 55.78, edging Saint Rose's Eric Romero Gomez (55.84) while Kobe Dominguez (West Hartford, Conn.) finished third at 55.99. Kanaley's time was his best of the season in the event.

100 Yard Breaststroke
Bobby Hahn (Niantic, Con.) was third in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:01.27 while Connor Skarzynski (West Hartford, Conn.) finished fourth at 1:07.37. Hahn's time was his season-best and also the Owls' second-fastest of the year.

200 Yard Butterfly
Owls' newcomer McAllistar Milne (Glastonbury, Conn.), who transferred to Southern from UConn for the second semester, won his first race with a time of 1:55.48 in the 200 Yard Butterfly, for the Owls' top time of the season. Christopher Roewer (Danbury, Conn.) finished fourth with a time of 2:23.83.

50 Yard Freestyle
Franklin Kuhn (Tolland, Conn.) was Southern's top finisher in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 22.14 for second place, which also stands as the Owls' second-best time of the season.

3 Meter Diving
Andrew Bueller led three Owls divers with a score of 284.32 while Matheus Silva was close behind at 234.75.

100 Yard Freestyle
Franklin Kuhn won the 100 Yard Freestyle event with a time of 47.96, for the second-fastest time of the season for Southern, while Tyler Cusano finished third at 48.69.

200 Yard Backstroke
Chandler Tucker took the 200 Yard Backstroke event with a program season-best time of 1:57.38.

200 Yard Breaststroke
Derek Melanson was the Owls' top finisher in the 200 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:25.56 for third place.

500 Yard Freestyle
Milne won his second event of the day with a time of 4:47.63 in the 500 Yard Freestyle, which also stands as Southern's second-best time of the season.

100 Yard Butterfly
Henry Velazquez finished second in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 52.58. Velazquez's time was the Owls' second-fastest of the season while Velazquez now owns the top two spots in the event.

200 Yard Individual Medley
Milne closed out his first meet as an Owl with a win in the 200 Yard IM to go 3-for-3 on the day. Milne posted a time of 1:58.60, which stood as the fastest time of the year for the Owls.

400 Freestyle Relay
The 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Tucker, Kuhn, Kanaley and Cusano posted a time of 3:13.09 for a first-place finish. The team's time is its fastest of the season, eclipsing the previous mark of 3:22.02.
