SCSU Women's Swimming & Diving Leads NE10 Championships After First Day

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut women's swimming and diving team sat in first place following the first day of the 2022 Northeast 10 Conference Swimming & Diving Championships hosted at Southern Connecticut's Bruce Hutchinson Natatorium. The Owls collected 154 points on the first day, leading second-place Bentley's 99.

In the Women's 1 Meter Diving final, Nicholle Denault got the Owls on the board with 14 points after finishing fifth, while Isabella Forte's seventh-place finish netted the Owls another 12 points.

In the women's first race of the day, Southern's 800 Freestyle Relay A Team of Olivia Strelevitz, Arianna Arturi, Rebekah Lockery and Lindsay McCawley finished second with a time of 7:41.01 to take home the Silver Medal and 38 points for the Owls. Southern's B team of Maddie Dean, Natalie Weier, Brooke Keeney and Nicole Cislo finished first in the B Final with a time of 7:51.22.

Southern dominated in the 1,000 Freestyle event as the Owls placed three swimmers in the top five, and four in the top 10. Faith Littleton won the Silver Medal after finishing second with a time of 10:35.82. Gracie Marsh finished fourth at 10:46.12 and Weier finished fifth at 10:47.46. Anya Celmer finished eighth at 11:00.50.

The 2022 NE10 Championships continue on Friday, Feb. 18 with preliminary rounds in the 500 Freestyle, 200 Individual Medley and 50 Freestyle set for 9:45 a.m. at "The Hutch" with finals set for 6 p.m.
