SCSU Gymnastics Finishes Fourth At Towson Quad Meet

TOWSON, Md. – Southern Connecticut State University gymnastics finished fourth at the Towson Quad Meet against the host Tigers, Maryland and George Washington. Maryland topped the four-team field with a combined 197.175, followed by Towson at 196.625 and George Washington at 195.575 while the Owls posted a 190.525.

Hanna Zebdi led the Owls with three scores of 9.7-or-higher. Zebdi placed 10th on the floor with a 9.8, 15th on the balance beam with a 9.7 and also had a 9.725 on the vault.

VAULT
Zebdi and Brooke Burkhart both posted a 9.725 while Cassidy Girolamo posted a 9.7. Zebdi has now posted a 9.6-or-higher in 11-straight vault events to open her career and has a score of 9.7-or-higher in two of her last three meets. First-year Owls Sidney Wilson had a 9.6 while Lexi Bracher posted a 9.55.

BARS
Audrey Arnold led Southern on the bars with a 9.775, which tied for 15th place. Arnold now leads the Owls with a 9.548 average in the event. Delaney Fields was close behind at 9.650, followed by Girolamo with a 9.55. Fields has now scored a 9.6-or-higher in three-straight meets.

BEAM
Molly Froman finished tied for 11th on the balance beam with a career-best 9.750. Zebdi was close behind at 9.7 while Emiley Kahl scored a 9.675. Zebdi had not competed on the beam this season until Feb. 27 and has now posted a 9.6-or-higher in three of the four times on the beam. Kahl's 9.675 is her second-best score of the season. Emelia Diaz also had a 9.650 while Angel Lee tallied a 9.6.

FLOOR
Zebdi's 9.8 on the floor was good for 10th, giving the Owls highest score and place of the meet. Zebdi's 9.8 is her second-highest score of the season Ciana Rio scored a 9.5, followed by Ava Boyd at 9.4 and Girolamo with a 9.375.

UP NEXT
Southern will compete in their final regular-season event of the year at University of New Hampshire's Whittemore Center Quad Meet on Sunday, Mar. 13 featuring New Hampshire, Brown and Penn State. The Owls will then compete in the Inaugural Gymnastics East Conference Championships on Saturday, Mar. 19 at Brown University.
