History is on tap at The Ballpark at SCSU this weekend as Owls' head coach Tim Shea currently sits at 497 career wins with a four-game series against Le Moyne on Apr. 2-3. Shea can reach the 500 wins mark against the Dolphins with a pair of doubleheaders set for a 12 p.m. start on Saturday, Apr. 2, and Sunday, Apr. 3.   • Southern Connecticut enters the weekend with a record of 15-4 overall and 2-1 in the NE10 after taking two-of-three against Saint Rose last weekend.
  • The Owls are currently ranked fourth in the NCBWA East Region Poll and are receiving votes in the NCBWA National Top 25.
  • The Owls lead the NE10 in winning percentage (.789), scoring (8.9 runs per game), runs (170), and triples (10) while ranking 12th in the country in doubles per game (2.47), 25th in scoring and 17th in winning percentage.
  • Bill Sullivan leads the team with a .397 average (29-73), as well as runs scored (28), hits (29), walks (15) and sacrifice bunts (3).
  • Sullivan has also totaled five doubles, two triples and a home run to go along with 12 RBI. Sullivan is slugging .562 with a .511 on-base percentage.
  • He currently ranks fourth in the NE10 and 96th in the country in batting average; fourth in the conference and 64th in D2 with 1.53 hits-per-game, 57th in the country in on-base percentage and 20th in nation with 1.47 runs per game.

  • Steve Phillips is 5-0 in six starts with a team-high 34 strikeouts in 33 innings pitched and boasts a 3.55 ERA.
  • Tommy Hughes is 1-1 with a 1.23 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 22 innings pitched out of the bullpen while also leading the team with three saves.
  • Hughes ranks second in WHIP (0.73) in the country, while also checking in with a NE10-leading and 13th nationally-ranked 1.23 ERA. He also ranks second in hits allowed per nine innings (4.09) and 19th in strikeouts per nine innings (13.09) among all NCAA Division II pitchers.
  • Pete Phillips is 1-0 with two saves and has yet to allow an earned run in 12 innings pitched, while also striking out 14 and walking one batter.
