NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut volleyball team defeated Felician University, 3-0, at Pelz Gymnasium. With the win the Owls improved to 9-6 on the season, while the Golden Falcons fell to 1-12.

How It Happened
Set one started off strong for the Owls after they jumped out of the gates with six of the first eight set points. Felician made numerous attempts to catch the Owls, even so much as coming within one of their lead, but Southern kept their feet on the gas and went on to take the set by seven behind four kills by Gaibur.
Felician had a stronger start in the second set with five of the first eight points. Southern stormed back and took the lead with seven of the next eight points behind a pair of kills each for both Bennett and Deecher. The Golden Falcons inched their way back in and came within one of the Owls, but Southern rattled of five-straight points to put their lead out of reach and captured set two by six.
Southern's domination enhanced in the final set. At 4-3, the Owls rattled off the next eight-straight points and took an 12-3 lead. The Owls kept it rolling and led by as many as 12 points. The Golden Falcons used a 5-0 run, behind three-straight Sara Betts' kills, to chip away at Southern's lead. Felician's late-game energy was not enough as the Owls pressed on to close out the set and complete the sweep by eight.

- Gabriela Gaibur recorded her fifth double-double of the season (32nd career) with 13 kills and 10 digs.
- Gaibur also notched her seventh double-digit dig game of the season.
- Taylor Jones recorded her eighth double-digit assist game of the season with 28 assists. This was also her seventh game with 20-plus assists this season.
- Jones also tallied her second double-double (14th career) with 28 assists and 12 digs.
- Sydney Bennett has recorded at least one block in nine-straight games and at least three blocks in eight of those matches.
- Lily Miller has double-digit assists in nine-straight games and double-digit assists in 10 games this season.
