SCSU Women's Soccer Ties Adelphi, 1-1

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer tied Adelphi, 1-1, in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at Jess Dow Field in New Haven, Conn. With the tie, Southern Connecticut goes to 4-2-2 overall and 2-0-2 in NE10 play while Adelphi moves to 5-2-1 overall and 3-0-1 in conference play.

The Owls are now 3-0-2 in their last five games. Kaitlyn D'Amico (Middletown, Conn.) scored the Owls' only goal with assists going to Kelsey Burr (Wallingford, Conn.) and Alexie Rosado (Northford, Conn.). Abby Allen (Orange, Conn.) ran her scoreless minutes streak to 457:46 before Adelphi scored with 5:01 to play. She finished with six saves in the game.

D'Amico put the Owls on the board half way through the first half. Riley Ayer (Andover, Conn.) took control of the ball just over midfield, sending a pass to the top of the box to Burr. Burr attempted to move around an Adelphi defender, who knocked it loose. Rosado touched the ball back to Burr, who took it wide and sent a cross to the front of the net for D'Amico who redirected the ball past Adelphi's goalkeeper to put the Owls on the board.

For D'Amico, she scored her second of the season and 14th of her career. Burr's assist was her second, to go along with four goals, for a team-best six points for the year while Rosado picked up her third assist of the season. The Panthers' goal was the first scored against Allen in conference play who remains undefeated in four NE10 games at 2-0-2 with three shutouts for a 0.25 goals-against average after allowing one goal in 360 minutes. She's also stopped 24-of-25 shots-on-goal for a .960 save percentage in NE10 action.

The Owls travel this weekend as they head to Rindge, N.H. to take on Franklin Pierce in another NE10 matchup at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24. Southern returns home on Tuesday, Sept. 27 to host New Haven at 7 p.m. at Jess Dow Field.
