"I'm honored and blessed to be part of this program," Himmons said. "I'm looking forward to learning from Dr. Lisa Goddard-McGuirk and gaining insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by Division II directors of athletics. This experience will be invaluable in aiding me to achieve my personal and professional goals."

Himmons will be mentored by Dr. Lisa Goddard-McGuirk from Fort Hays State University. This partnership will provide Himmons with valuable guidance, professional development, and networking opportunities to enhance her career aspirations in athletic administration.

"I want to congratulate Mercedes on this outstanding opportunity," said SCSU's Director of Athletics Terrance Jones. "Her dedication to SCSU Athletics and her passion for professional growth make her an ideal candidate for this program. We look forward to seeing the impact this experience will have on her career and our university community."

The D2 ADA Women & Ethnic Minorities Mentoring Program aims to create a diverse and inclusive leadership conduit in
Division II athletics. Through this program, participants will engage in professional development, goal-setting, and networking opportunities designed to foster their growth as future athletic directors.

The program underscores SCSU's commitment to developing the next generation of leaders in athletics administration and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the NCAA.
