LET'S DANCE: SCSU Women's Basketball To Host NCAA East Regional On Mar. 13-14

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball received the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship East Region, and will host the eight-team bracket on Mar. 13-14 at James Moore Field House in New Haven, Conn. Southern last hosted the East Region in 2007, when they went on to win the NCAA Division II National Championship. 

The Owls (24-5) will face No. 8 seed Saint Michael's (15-13); No. 2 seed Bentley (22-4) will face No. 7 seed Mercy (22-7); No. 3 seed Daemen (24-3) will face No. 6 seed Felician (24-7); and No. 4 seed Assumption (20-7) will face No. 5 seed Holy Family (27-4).

The Owls recorded an overall record of 24-5 and had an NE10 record of 16-2. Southern Connecticut won the 2026 NE10 Championship, for the first time since 2007, by defeating no. 1 seed, Bentley, 59-50. The Owls' 24 wins are the most wins recorded since the 2011-12 season that saw Southern win 25 games. This is the Owls' second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament and the ninth appearance in program history.
 
Southern advanced to the NCAA Final Four in 1983, then returned to the NCAA Tournament 20 years later, in 2003. They continued to make appearances in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2012 and 2018. The Owls made it all the way to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in 2006 and then won the NCAA National Championship in 2007.
