Jesse Cyr

Now in his 16th season as diving coach at Southern Connecticut State University, Jesse Cyr has resurrected the Owls’ proud diving tradition. Southern Connecticut’s divers have excelled under the tutelage of the former University of Connecticut standout.

Since joining the Owls, Cyr has been honored 12 times as the Northeast-10 Diving Coach of the Year (2003-11, 2013-14). In addition, he has coached 15 All-Americans (eight men, seven women) during his time at SCSU.

Furthermore, 13 performers have also been named as the Most Outstanding Diver at the Northeast-10 Championships, while 11 divers have taken home Northeast-10 Diver of the Year honors. Cyr has also coached two Northeast-10 Freshmen Divers of the Year.

As a collegiate standout, the 1995 UConn graduate was the 1995 New England champion for the Huskies in both the one and three-meter diving events.

As a scholastic student-athlete, Cyr was a three-time CIAC Class L champion and 1991 CIAC Open champion.

Cyr also has coaching experience with a variety of organizations and has coached numerous high school All-America divers, including 2002 High School national champion Brian Mariano. He also presently coaches the SoNoCo diving club.

Cyr resides in Naugatuck, Conn. with his wife, Sarah, and their daughter, Vivian.
