NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Graduate student Courtney Dinnan (Hamden, Conn.) of the women’s cross country team and senior Trevon Hamlet (Brooklyn, N.Y.) of the men’s basketball team have been named as the Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Month for November.
Dinnan capped off an outstanding season by qualifying for the NCAA Division II Championships, a meet in which she finished 61st with a time of 21:44.90. Earlier in the month, she placed third at the NCAA Division II East Regional Championships to earn All-Region laurels with a time of 21:34.6.
Hamlet helped guide the Owls to a 4-1 start to the 2012-13 campaign and averaged 17.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.0 blocks per contest. He reached double digits in four of the five outings, including a 28-point performance in the season opening win over Goldey-Beacom.
Named to the Northeast-10 weekly honor roll twice during the month, Hamlet finished the month ranked among the top-five in the league in scoring and blocked shots. He also scored his 1,000th point as a member of the Southern Connecticut program in the win over Pace on Nov. 28.
