NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Alyssa Downs (Seymour, Conn.) of the softball team and senior Michael Cleary (West Boylston, Mass.) of the baseball team have been named as the Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
Downs batted .500 (9-for-18) with two home runs and nine RBI in five games last week. She also added three doubles and scored three runs, while slugging 1.000. Thanks in part to Downs’ efforts, the Owls went 3-2 on the week.
Cleary compiled a .400 batting average (6-for-15) and was the catalyst from the top of the order in a 3-1 week. He scored six runs, drove in three and stole five bases in six attempts.
