NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Sarah Cebry (Burlington, Conn.) of the field hockey team and sophomore Mads Larsen (Trondheim, Norway) of the men’s soccer team have been named as the Connecticut Army National Guard/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.

Cebry finished with eight points (four goals) in a 1-1 week for the Owls. She scored a goal in the 3-2 win against Mercy on Tuesday. Cebry also had a hat trick in the 5-4 loss at Franklin Pierce on Saturday. Cebry completed the regular season with 18 goals. Cebry was named to the Northeast-10 weekly honor roll for her efforts.

Larsen played a key role in wins for the men’s soccer team last week against Adelphi (3-0) and Franklin Pierce (1-0). He scored two goals in the win over Adelphi and now has five goals on the season. Larsen was named to the Northeast-10 weekly honor roll for his efforts.

The Connecticut Army National Guard is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University’s ‘Athlete of the Week’ recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the ‘Athlete of the Week’ program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
