Southern Connecticut State University Athletics

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Jessica Renzo (Westfield, Mass.) of the women’s swimming and diving team and senior Greg Langston (Stratford, Conn.) of the men’s basketball team have been named as the Connecticut Army National Guard/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.

Langston helped the Owls to their fourth win in a row to start the year in an 80-52 triumph over Adelphi last week. He led all scorers with 24 points on 12-of-19 shooting and had six rebounds. It was the second straight week that Langston has earned the SCSU weekly honor.

Renzo captured first place in both the one- and three-meter diving events at the United States Merchant Marine Academy Invitational over the weekend. Renzo scored 217.73 points on the one-meter board and 221.33 points on the three-meter board.

The Connecticut Army National Guard is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University’s ‘Athlete of the Week’ recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the ‘Athlete of the Week’ program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
