NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Tresley Dupont (Tiverton, R.I.) of the men's indoor track and field team and senior Brittany Brown (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) of the women's indoor track and field team have been named the Connecticut Army National Guard/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
DuPont was a key component in helping the Owls place first at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. During the weight throw he placed first, finishing at 18.9 meters. He also placed fourth in the shot put at 14.99. DuPont was named Men's Most Outstanding Field Performer.
Brown contributed greatly in helping the Owls come in second place in the NE-10 Conference Championships. She came in first place in the high jump at 1.69, and second in the long jump at 5.61 meters, a mark that provisionally qualified her for the National Championships as well. Brown also named the Women's Most Outstanding Field Performer.
The Connecticut Army National Guard is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University's 'Athlete of the Week' recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the 'Athlete of the Week' program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
