NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Sophomore Kieran DeBiase (Prospect, Conn.) of the women's soccer team and sophomore Markus Jacobsen (Oslo, Norway) of the men's soccer team have been named as the Connecticut Army National Guard/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.

DeBiase played a key role in the two wins for the women's soccer team last week against American International and Southern New Hampshire University. She recorded the game-winning goal in the 2-1 win over the Yellow Jackets as well as tallied the tying goal against SNHU on Saturday.

Jacobsen finished with four points (two goals) in a 2-0 week for the Owls. He scored back-to-back goals in the Owls 3-0 win against No.17 Merrimack and now has three goals on the season.

The Connecticut Army National Guard is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University's 'Athlete of the Week' recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the 'Athlete of the Week' program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
