NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Senior Nicole Buch (Darien, Conn.) of the softball team and senior Nick Baviello (Orange, Conn.) of the baseball team have been named as the Connecticut Army National Guard/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
Buch played a pivotal role in a 4-1 week that was capped by the Owls’ clinching of a Northeast-10 Tournament home game. She batted .500 (7-for-14) with a home run, three runs scored and six runs batted in. Buch also registered three stolen bases.
Baviello batted a team-high .600 (9-for-15) over four games and notched at least two hits in each of the contests. He also scored twice and drove in four runs during a 2-2 week for the Owls.?
The Connecticut Army National Guard is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University’s ‘Athlete of the Week’ recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the ‘Athlete of the Week’ program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
