NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Audrey Dolloff (Raynham, Mass.) of the field hockey team and redshirt freshman Robert Nittolo (Hillsborough, N.J.) of the football team have been named as the Connecticut Army National Guard/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
Dolloff helped the Owls to a season opening split in a pair of games against Mansfield and No. 4 nationally ranked Shippensburg. Dolloff played the first 58:42 of action to earn the win against Mansfield and stopped all three shots she saw in the net. The following day, Dolloff kept the Owls right with the high-powered Raiders, stopping 20 shots in a 2-0 defeat.
Nittolo, making his Owls’ debut against Gannon on Saturday, finished 24-of-38 for 249 yards and three touchdowns in the contest. Gannon was selected to win the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference’s West Division and was also receiving votes in the American Football Coaches Association preseason rankings.
The Connecticut Army National Guard is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University’s ‘Athlete of the Week’ recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the ‘Athlete of the Week’ program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
