NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Caroline Staudle (New Windsor, N.Y.) of the women’s soccer team and redshirt sophomore Vochan Fowler (Bridgeport, Conn.) of the football team have been named as the Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.

Staudle helped the Owls post a 1-0-1 mark in its two outings last week, a pair of matches against two of the top teams in the Northeast-10 Conference. Her goal with just 1:59 left in regulation forced a 1-1 draw against No. 12 nationally ranked Adelphi in the week’s opening match. Staudle then followed with the only goal of the contest in a 1-0 win over American International on Friday.

Fowler contributed to the Owls’ 35-16 win over Pace in all phases on Saturday. He broke the century mark for the second straight game with 138 rushing yards on 26 carries and also returned an interception 26 yards for a score on a botched Pace fake punt attempt. Fowler also caught one pass for nine yards.
