NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Lilly Martin (Bristol, Conn.) of the women’s swimming and diving team and senior Michael Mallory (Waterbury, Conn.) of the men’s basketball team have been named as the Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
Martin posted six first-place finishes over the weekend as the Owls picked up dual meet victories over WPI and Pace. She started with victories in the 400 medley relay, 200 breaststroke and 200 individual medley in the triumph over WPI. The following afternoon, Martin captured the top spot in the 200 fly, 200 breaststroke and 400 IM in a victory over Pace.
Mallory helped the No. 4 nationally ranked Owls register a season-opening triumph over Holy Family and averaged 25.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists in two games. Mallory scored 25 points with five rebounds and five assists in a 105-103 win over HFU. He followed that up with 25 points, seven rebounds and four assists on Sunday against Bridgeport.
