NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Carolynn Keal (Southington, Conn.) of the women's lacrosse team and redshirt senior Cole Bryant (Newington, Conn.) of the baseball team have been named as the Chick-fil-A of North Haven/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
Keal led the Owls in points, caused turnovers and groundballs last week. She tallied three groundballs and three caused turnovers in the game against No. 13 nationally ranked Pace. She followed that up by leading the team with five points (four goals, one assist), and also had seven caused turnovers and six groundballs. Keal also became the sixth Owl in program history to register 100 career points in that game.
Bryant improved to 6-0 on the season with a pivotal pitching performance in a win over LeMoyne on Saturday. In a battle for first place in the NE10 Southwest Division, he tossed a complete game to lead the Owls to a 5-1 win over the Dolphins. Bryant allowed just five hits and struck out three for the win.
Chick-fil-A of North Haven, located at 560 Universal Drive, is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University's 'Athlete of the Week' recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the 'Athlete of the Week' program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
