NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Graduate student Laura Morrison (Wethersfield, Conn.) of the women’s cross country team and senior Vasilios Grigorakos (Port Washington, N.Y.) of the football team have been named as the Chick-fil-A of North Haven/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
Morrison placed fifth overall out of 173 student-athletes at this weekend’s NCAA Regional Championships in Buffalo and earned a spot in the field at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship in Evansville, Ind. in two weeks. She earned All-Region honors and a trip to the Hoosier State after completing the 6K course with a time of 23:10.3.
Grigorakos paced the Owls’ defense as SCSU won its third consecutive contest on Saturday, a 35-28 triumph at Saint Anselm. He had a team-high nine tackles (six solo) in the contest.
Chick-fil-A of North Haven, located at 560 Universal Drive, is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University's 'Athlete of the Week' recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the 'Athlete of the Week' program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
