NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Alexandria Jurgens (Cornwall, N.Y.) of the volleyball team and senior Shaquan Hall (Newark, N.J.) of the football team have been named as the Chick-fil-A of North Haven/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
Jurgens played a pivotal role in a two-game stretch that saw the Owls clinch a spot in the NE10 Tournament for the first time since 2012. She registered a career-high 43 assists and added nine digs and a kill against Adelphi and followed that up with 29 assists, seven digs and two kills in a win at St. Michael's.
Hall had six catches for a career-best 128 yards and a touchdown in his final game as an Owl on Saturday, a 34-0 win over Pace. In total, Hall recorded 138 all-purpose yards in the contest. His 71-yard touchdown reception was also a career-best.
Chick-fil-A of North Haven, located at 560 Universal Drive, is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University's 'Athlete of the Week' recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the 'Athlete of the Week' program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
