NEW HAVEN, Conn. – For the second week in a row, senior Abby Hurlbert (Thomaston, Conn.) of the women's basketball team and junior Isaiah McLeod (Cambridge, Mass.) of the men's basketball team have been named as the Chick-fil-A of North Haven/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
Hurlbert set a new career-high for the second game in a row with 24 points in the Owls' 73-52 win over No. 8 nationally ranked and previously undefeated Saint Thomas Aquinas. She hit on 8-of-13 shots from the floor, including 4-of-6 from behind the arc. Hurlbert also tallied four rebounds, two steals and an assist.
McLeod recorded his third double-double of the year with 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Owls claimed a 64-54 victory over USciences in their only action last week. He also added four steals and two assists in the win.
Chick-fil-A of North Haven, located at 560 Universal Drive, is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University's 'Athlete of the Week' recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the 'Athlete of the Week' program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
