NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore Sara Buscetto (Waterford, Conn.) of the softball team and junior Nick Lamberti (East Haven, Conn.) of the baseball team have been named as the Chick-fil-A of North Haven/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
Buscetto ignited the Owls’ attack from the top of the order and finished with a .533 average (8-of-15) in a 3-1 week. She also scored 10 runs, drove in seven and was a perfect 5-of-5 in stolen bases. She had at least one hit in every game and capped the weekend with a 4-for-4 effort in a win over Stonehill.
Lamberti also played a pivotal role in a 3-1 week for the Owls, as he batted .471 (8-for-17). He added four runs scored, two RBI and was a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen bases. Lamberti also had at least one hit in all four games, including three hits apiece in end of Saturday’s doubleheader against Merrimack.
Chick-fil-A of North Haven, located at 560 Universal Drive, is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University's 'Athlete of the Week' recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the 'Athlete of the Week' program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
