NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman T.J. Shea (Hamden, Conn.) of the baseball team has been named as the Comcast/Southern Connecticut State University Athlete of the Month for June.
Shea helped the Owls reach the national semifinals during their trip to the College World Series and finish the year with a No. 4 national ranking. He batted .500 (4-for-8) in the Owls’ two CWS games in June with one home run, four RBI and two runs scored. Shea posted consecutive multiple hit efforts in the month, highlighted by a three-run home run against Sonoma State that ignited a SCSU comeback in an eventual victory.
For the third consecutive year, Comcast is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University’s ‘Athlete of the Month’ recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the ‘Athlete of the Month’ program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each month for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
