Men’s Basketball Defeated by Le Moyne

The Owls were defeated by Le Moyne on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Court.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball was defeated by Le Moyne College on Saturday afternoon by the score of 76-43. With the loss, the Owls are now 1-21 overall and 0-17 in the NE-10. Le Moyne improved to 13-10 and 9-9 in the conference.

The Dolphins controlled the first twenty minutes of regulation as they headed into halftime with a 43-22 lead. They shot 15-for-22 from the field (68.2%) as the Owls shot 8-for-25 (32%). Junior Tocari Davis (Bloomfield, Conn.) led Southern with six first half points.

Le Moyne cooled off in the second half as the Owls held them to 9-for-23 shooting (39.1%) from the field but the halftime deficit was too high. The Dolphins never lost the momentum as they continued to increase their lead throughout the second half and pulled away with a 76-43 win.

Davis was the lone Owl in double-digits as he dropped 12 points on 6-for-11 shooting and grabbed five boards. Senior forward Preston Bell (Brooklyn, N.Y.) tallied nine points and nine rebounds and junior guard Trevor Harris (Nanuet, N.Y.) added eight buckets.

Laurence Ekperigin had a game-high 16 points for the Dolphins. He was joined by Phil Barnes and Christopher Johnson in double-digits with 12 and 10 points respectively.

The Owls return to Moore Field House on Tuesday, Feb. 10 as they compete against St. Michael's for the second time this season. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
