Women's Basketball Falls to Bloomfield, 73-50

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - Junior guard Sylvonya Moore (Stockton, Calif.) registered a double-double with a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds, while senior Logan Lentz (Chambersburg, Pa.) scored 13 points as the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team lost 73-50 to Bloomfield on Sunday.

The Owls are now 4-7 overall, while the Lady Deacons improve to 4-4. 

Southern jumped out on top scoring a quick eight points in the first two minutes of action until the Lady Deacons went on a 10-1 run and never looked backed. Bloomfield went into the locker rooms with a 43-34 lead.

After the intermission, Bloomfield went on a 12-2 run and was ahead of the Owls by as much as 29 points before the Lady Deacons finalized the score, 73-50.

Bloomfield held control of the game by having the advantage in points off turnovers with 24, as well as a big contribution from their bench with 30 points.

Shelley Pierson (Watervliet, N.Y.) tallied eight points for the Owls.

The Owls will now break for the holidays and return to action on Dec. 30 for a home game against Molloy.
