NEW HAVEN, Conn – Three members of the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team reached double digits, but the Owls fell to Assumption, 67-59 Tuesday night at Moore Field House.
With the loss, the Owls drop to 3-5 overall, 1-5 in the Northeast-10 conference, while the Greyhounds improve to 8-1, 6-0 in the league.

Shelley Pierson (Watervliet, N.Y.) and sophomore
Keshia Primo (Mississauga, Ontario) led the Owls both scoring 16 points. Pierson shot 63 percent going 7-11 with seven rebounds, while Primo went 8-12 bringing in two rebounds. Junior
Sylvonya Moore (Stockton, Calif.) also contributed 13 points and had one rebound.
Southern held control of the ball in the first half of action. The Owls forced 16 Greyhound turnovers which consisted of 17 of their first half points. A quick 6-2 run within five minutes put the Owls up as much as 13 at one point, but took a 31-22 lead into the locker rooms.
After the intermission, the Greyhounds went on a 20-8 run and caught up to the Owls. The teams played back and forth ball until sophomore Gabrielle Gibson (Amityville, N.Y.) sunk a layup to put the Greyhounds up 54-52 with 11:47 left in the half, then never looked back. The Greyhounds finalized the game with a score of 67-59.
Gibson led all scorers with 19 points as sophomore Sabrina Sicillano (Fairfield, Conn.) and junior Kelly Meredith (Franklin, Mass.) contributed 15 and 12 points, respectively for the Greyhounds.
Southern will return to action on Dec. 11 as they travel to Rindge, N.H. for a match-up against No. 7 Franklin Pierce set to begin at 2 p.m.
