Owls Fall To St. Michael's, 63-56

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Junior Sylvonya Moore (Stockton, Calif.) and senior Logan Lentz (Chambersburg, Pa.) both reached double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively, but the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team dropped a 63-56 decision at St. Michael's on Tuesday night.

The Owls are now 6-9, 2-8 in Northeast-10 play. St. Michael's is now 6-6 overall, 4-5 in league action.

St. Michael's held the lead for most of the early minutes and was ahead by a 14-9 score with just under 13 minutes left to play in the opening half. The Owls countered with a 20-9 run of their own over the next 10 minutes to take their biggest lead of the frame at seven points. SCSU led at halftime, 33-31.

Moore had 11 points for the Owls in the first half.

St. Michael's scored the first six points of the second half to regain the lead at 37-33. SCSU briefly forged back in front, 43-41, before the Purple Knights used a 14-2 run to take the lead for good.

Lentz added six rebounds to go with her 11 points. Milena Lazarevic (Gmunden, Austria) and Camille Fantini (Andover, Mass.) each had eight points.

The Owls are back in action on Saturday when they host Franklin Pierce at 1:30 p.m.
