Sylvonya Moore (Stockton, Calif.) scored 19 points to help the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team defeat Adelphi, 69-61 in the season opening game for the Owls. The Owls kept a steady 10 point lead throughout the entire game.
Moore was 8-for-13 from the field while picking up six assists to go along with five steals.
Keshia Primo (Mississauga, Ontario) and
Moni Smith-Ocran (Bronx, N.Y.) both chipped in 10 points apiece. Primo was 2-for-3 behind the arc while Smith-Ocran lead the team with seven rebounds.
Camille Fantini (Andover, Mass.) helped the Owls off the bench, scoring seven points and picking up five rebounds.
The Owls improved to 1-0 on the season and 1-0 in Northeast-10 Conference action. Their next game will be Saturday when they play Saint Thomas Aquinas College at 1 p.m.
